A Place for Every Pace – Title 9K

WHY WE TITLE 9K

In 2003, when the inaugural Title 9K starting gun rang out in the clear blue Boulder sky, we did not yet know what sort of evolution was to take place. We did not know that first Mother’s Day would spawn a run series in multiple cities, or that it would become such a big part of who we are as a company. While our races have grown over time, the root of why of we Title 9K has always remained the same.

Fun runs with colored dust or costume themes were not yet a commonplace affair when the our run series was born. The Title 9K was created as a celebration of women and girls in sport, a pavement party in honor of active living. We wanted to have an event that welcomed women of every pace, one that celebrates the new mother walking with her baby jogger with as grand a cheer as the gal who breaks the finish line tape. (And who might also have a baby jogger!)

#EmbraceTheDetours Instagram Challenge Highlights

Our Favorite Detours

For the month of March we challenged you to show us the wrong turns and accidental adventures in your lives. Those times when you chose to shoot hoops with your son despite your lack of gear, or your whole family begged to come on your long run, or your dog literally u-turned you mid-workout. Moments when the path led you somewhere unexpected.

Though we could only choose one image to win Title Nine gear each week, we were blown away by all the submissions. Your humor, resourcefulness, and adventurous spirits have truly inspired us to keep embracing the detours in our own lives, because as you showed us, the detours are where the most interesting stuff happens!

We hope you continue to #EmbraceTheDetours by following us on Instagram and tagging your adventure and workout pics. View more of our favorites below, or head to Instagram to check out all the submissions.

friend detours

Yes, it is rest day! While you’re ready to spend the day on the couch, your friend convinces you to lace up running shoes or pull on hiking boots instead. Sometimes that unplanned workout can be a most welcomed detour. Take a photo of you and a friend getting in a workout, especially one you were reluctant to do (but aren’t you glad you did)?

This week’s winner will receive one detour-ready Dream Dress ($79) for you AND one for a friend!

Read on for how to enter.

Week Two Winner

Four Legged Detours

Your workout is planned, but your furry friend has other ideas. Maybe he’d rather run through the trees than stay on the trail, or maybe bath time turned into a ‘chase the wet dog’ dash. Snap a picture of you and your canine companion (or any favorite pet) the next time she leads you on a detour. Where did the unexpected adventure take you?

This week’s winner will receive our detour-ready, fast-drying Rogue Short ($49) or Rogue Skort ($64), plus a Mighty Bright Light ($15) for Fido.

 Week Two Challenge: Gear Detours

Week One Winner

gear detoursOops! We open our gym bag at boot camp to find we haven’t packed a sports bra. We’re ready to head out for our lunchtime run only to discover we left our running shoes at home. Forgetting a key piece of gear for your workout is an unwelcome detour. Do you call it quits and head home, or get creative and make it happen anyway? No gear? No problem! Share a photo of yourself getting your workout done – even if you’ve forgotten an important piece of gear.

This week’s winner gets a personalized bra fit with one of our expert bravangelists plus a Tech Athena Sports Bra (big-time support) or Uprise Pullover Sports Bra (for A & B gals) ($48-$54).

How To Enter

To enter, simply follow us on Instagram, post a photo of yourself getting it done despite your gear fail, and tag it #EmbraceTheDetours and @Title Nine. Week Two Winner:

week 2 winner

Week two winner – @lauralyntaylor: The only thing I REALLY want to be known as a “bad ass” for is as a mom. My son needs practice time dribbling and rebounding, so the ball is in the car always. If he wants to practice, we practice. Even after church. In a dress. And heels. Because one day when I’m old and gray and about to die, I want my son to look at me with his kids and say, “‘your grandma was one bad ass woman. I remember when…'”

No basketball shoes? No problem for Lauralyn. She didn’t let her lack of gear stop her from quality time with her son. That’s truly one “bad ass” way to #EmbraceTheDetours! Thanks to everyone who entered the GEAR DETOURS challenge. We got so many great ideas for how to get it done despite missing a key piece of gear: using old socks as arm warmers, lip balm as body glide, even wearing your infant twins as a weight belt! You are one resourceful bunch. We can’t wait to see what detours you embrace next.
