Working Out
“What’s the worst that could happen?”
Good things come to those who take risks. Never lost, but a might turned around a few times, I am constantly on the move: over snow, over water, on land, or in my boots life is there for the taking.
I am a 32 year old mother with a BS in Industrial Forestry from Paul Smith’s College. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, canoeing, snowshoeing, and getting lost in the woods. I grew up in the Berkshire and Adirondack mountains, and returned to Massachusetts when my daughter was born so that she could do the same.
My father was the biggest influence in becoming an outdoorswoman. Every childhood memory I have is speckled with fresh air, white water, gear and more gear!
My favorite things include snow days and wet doggy kisses. I am a Girl Scout troop leader, a gardener, a poet, and an adventure seeker who loves tempting fate.
I am most proud of the fact that my daughter can identify trees without their leaves, that my husband will follow me anywhere, and that I took those 10 years to plan my wedding.
Job(s): Full-time student, daughter, friend, game changer
Mantra: “Come with the love” (i.e: send loving vibes)
Favorite hobbies: Acroyoga, traveling, running, rock climbing, latin dancing!
Guilty pleasure: spooning peanut butter from the jar and borrowing my mom’s clothes.
Home base: Lake Champlain, Vermont
I am an Emergency Room nurse in Hilo Hawaii.
I grew up in a small town in Colorado where I learned to ski, hike, and rock climb.
My personal sport of choice is running. I love the escape it gives me and the feeling of working up a good sweat and the personal triumph of adding that extra mile under your belt.
I also dance at a local studio- though I’ve been off the dance floor due to a knee injury – I cannot wait to get back!
I also greatly enjoy weight lifting, cliff jumping, surfing, and paddle boarding. I had also been part of the local roller derby team prior to becoming a nurse.
This past summer, I went white water rafting in Zambia down the Zambezi River and bungee jumped off the Victoria Falls bridge. Definitely recommend for the adventure seeker 🙂
Job: ER nurse in Hilo, HI.
Home Life: I live in a yurt with my husband and cat on the family farm.
About me: I grew up on a farm outside Boulder, CO. I lived in Washington State during most of my 20s where I fell in love with rock climbing, hiking, swing dancing and yoga. I love to be outside, especially in the sunshine.
Goals: Dive into water sports; stand-up paddle boarding, surfing, and join an outrigger canoe team.
So funny! We work at the same hospital!
My personal caption: “I’m so over it.”
I have been pole vaulting for 4 years now and am on my quest to becoming the best I can be in my sport. My goal is to go as far and as high as I can with my pole vault career which is good for me because I am still quite young for the sport. Most professionals are in their late 20’s while I am only 18. I love the rush of soaring over the bar and competing while doing something to which I am 100% dedicated.
Day job: Life saver (nurse)
Super hero power: Day maker!
I am: an explorer extraordinaire.
My story: Mother Nature provided a trail. I followed it. Most beautiful site I have ever seen…but I wanted more. Left everything I had brought at the top of the cliff and jumped. Today was about exploring. Barefooted and brave, I climbed up rocks and swam through unknown waters. I had the spirit of the island with me. In the end it occurred to me. My life is wonderful…all because I jumped.
Winter paddle-boarding in Tahoe. Life is too short not to dance in the sunshine

Favorite thing about the midwest: 4 incredible seasons.

“… To leave the world a bit better. To know even one life has breathed easier because I have lived.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson adaptation
Live an inspired life.
-Reach for the Heavens-
My goal this year was to push myself to do something I have never done before. I decided to climb Mt. Saint Helens in Washington State. My life as a registered nurse keeps me pretty active but I always want to try the next challenge. I felt really good about the success and hope that next year brings new thrills !
