Because we get so many questions about our “models,” I thought I’d share some of our guidelines:
Rule #1: If you’ve always wanted to be a model, you can’t model for us. We only use gals with real bodies — no additives or preservatives.
Our “models” have real jobs or consuming passions. Since we spend a LOT of time with our “models,” they’ve gotta be interesting and interested, someone with whom we’d want to spend a lot of time.
And always, unselfconsciously confident.
In the end, our “models” are regular women, leading regular lives, lives not so very different from our own.
Missy Park, Founder
Dear Missy & Title Nine Marketing Department,
I have to add my voice to those below! I’m another active, professional woman who loves your clothing but doesn’t see women like me on your pages.
I discovered yoga, running AND my current profession as a photographer after 40. Now, at 48, I find myself with a “lifestyle” not previously available to my mother and grandmothers.
Those of us over 40 are the ROLE MODELS for those young ladies currently in your catalogs. I hope you will demonstrate this in future publications!
How refreshing to hear your “requirements” for your models. Looking at the merchandise being shown by these women is an inspiration to keep on keeping on to strive to have their muscles and their certain self-confidence. Thanks again for using real women!!
Could you use some older role models? Yes…even those of us that are fast approaching 50 love your catalog…
I love that you use real women in your catalogs. They are all so fit and inspiring. How about a few that are abit older so those of us who are 49 and active have some more role models. I love your clothes especially the sun dresses. They are the staple of my summer wardrobe. Thanks for designing them to fit real bodies. Kyle
I see others have the same comment – let’s see more women over 50! I am 57 and swim 3 days a week and run 4 – 7 days a week. I also wear your clothes.
I have taught college-level Health & Physical Education for over 30 years. I previously coached cross country & track at this level for 12 years. I have also coached swimming for K-8 grades in the Portland Catholic Youth Organization and for the past 4 years, I have been coaching at the high school level. I hope I am a role model for all of my students, no matter how young or old they are!
Title Nine,
Thank you Title Nine! I also love, wear, and use Title Nine products and appreciate the use of real people as models in your catalogs. Like many of the other women who have responded, I am over 50 (turning 58 in two days), have a real job (prosecuting attorney), and have consuming passions that include hiking, running, cyling, downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and photography. I have run marathons; completed triathlons, century rides, snowshoe races and more; and have no intentions of slowing down any time soon! There are alot of interesting women out there of all age!.
Your models look awesome, and are very inspirational. But you could definitely use more African-American models. I think I’d make a good candidate, although I’m not always unselfconciously confident. But then again, no “regular” woman is.
By the way, just got the catalog in the mail and the new collection looks awesome!
I have enjoyed your catalog and your clothes for many years now. In fact, when they took a poll at work about what your “dream profession” was -sadly, it was not my current one but “to be a model for the title nine catalog.”
Your models are truly inspirational!
I am 73 and look way younger. When I am at the doctor’s office, they have to check because they can’t believe I am the age I am! I work out with a trainer, weigh in at under 110 and get compliments galore. Let’s hear it for the “old ” folks!
I agree about seeing older models. I’m turning 40 this year and the only issue I have with my age is it’ll put me in the most intensive age bracket for triathlons. The 40-50 age group inspires me!
