The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

At first, I regarded the whole surfboard contest as someone else’s dream. But the few moments my mind would stray from my daily obligations, it always conjured up the image of that long board. Perhaps it’s because I am facing terrible lows now due to recent deaths in my family. But maybe that surfboard reminds me that I must live in the NOW – I need to seek out each perfect wave in any given day and ride that emotion to a happier place in my heart. Any dream can be mine if I let it happen.

Hey, when I attended school to become a massage therapist I slept on my massage table! Okay so I am a self proclaimed minimalist, but I would put that Carve surfboard to good use. My table could use a break anyway. Rest assured when I turn in for the night, I’ll be resting comfortably in my sleeping bag on top of my new surfboard, pointed west of course. I have mastered the art of carving in the snow here on the ice coast, but yearn to tackle the waves of the west coast.
I want to win this surfboard to give to my 12 year old daughter,Anika.
She is saving up money right now by collecting recyclables from her track meets. Half is going to replace her beat up, hand me down foam board, the other half is for a well for a school in Africa.
Please helpl this Jack Johnson listen’, rock climin’,wave ridin’, future marine biologist in trainin’, kids-vs-global-warming.com member, baby beach Betty with gifting us this new board. She’s going to save the world!
My daughter wrote this entry and wanted to surprise me on my 44th birthday but she is too young to enter. Here is what she wrote in her own words:
“My mom just retired from the Army after 22yrs to stay home with us. She was gone a lot when I was born. We wanted to celebrate at Hawaii. My mom and I would paddle around in the ocean together and look for shells and different kinds of creature species. This would be good gift for my mom’s birthday in July. We would really like to win this surfboard so that my Mom, Dad, brother and I could all take surfing lessons in Hawaii and also where we live in California.” Sincerely, Eliza, age 8, grade 2
Ever since I took that surfing lesson in hawaii that was “guaranteed to get you up on the board,” I have always wanted my own surfboard. Surfing was on my list of things to do before I died or got too old.
As soon as I scooted my legs up between my arms and stood up on the board, I knew I was forever going to remember the feeling of flying on top of a wave, even if it wasn’t pipesize. It was heaven. And now my list has expanded to “want my own surfboard.”
I’m a forty-two year old mother of a two and a half year old boy. I recognize the incredible value of a mother’s influence on her son and want my influences to be positive and unique. I feel surfing should become apart of our lives. We could learn together and embrace its spirit. This journey with nature will inspire peace, build self-esteem, and lead us to both to a deeper understanding of each other. A new surfboard would invite us to rise to life’s challenges as well as allowing us both to travel and play in its shimmering liquid playgrounds.
Hi Guys~
I learned to surf in 1992 in San Clemente, CA. and instantly fell in love with the sport. Six months later I decided to pursue another dream and sport I loved and moved to Breakenridge, CO. to be a ski bum for a year, 16 years later and I’m still
here in Colorado.
I now have an amazing husband and two beautiful children (twins) and we all share a passion for the ocean and get there as often as we can and I try and surf every time. I’m looking forward to teaching them how to surf when they have mastered
swimming and for my husband he’s a diver and usually prefers to being under water, but after 11 years he finally gave it a try in Cabo, Mexico with me and he loved it. I love Carve Designs and T9 and would use my board to teach my little ones how to surf.
P.S. Just cause I live in Colorado, please don’t let that detour from choosing me
lots of surfers live here.
Cheers!!!!
As a nurse working night shift in a small but busy ER my free time is very limited. Spending that time with the family is very important to all of us. The kids and I enjoy going to the beach as much as possible during the summer. We ride the waves on boogie boards and rafts that we have to replace every year. Having a surfboard to learn to really ride the waves on would be awesome!
Working night shift as an ER nurse at a small but very busy hospital doesnt allow much free time for fun. My kids and I enjoy going to the beach as much as we can during the summer. We ride boogie boards and rafts in an attempt to catch the big waves. Having a surf board to play on would be wonderful addition and a great learning experience for all of us! Spending quality active time with the family is the ultimate summer experience!
