Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

After being married for 25 years, I will finally go on my honeymoon this summer where I hope to be able to cross two items off my “bucket list.” I have come through so many obstacles in my life. These obstacles give me strength to take on any challenge. I can only image what it would feel like to glide across the endless ocean waves, the wind in my hair and the world at my feet. This board will be on constant display in my home – as a poetic reminder of what one can accomplish if desire meets opportunity.
I am writing for my daughter. She is 9 years old and she is fantastic. Her father and I had her when we were very young and try to encourage everything that she loves – art, surfing, etc. We also have a 6 year old daughter who is just as fantastic. They are the loves of our life, who both have a deep-set passion for the beach and sun and enjoying life. We work hard for everything we have and sometimes “extras” just aren’t in the cards. I would love for my daughter to win this surfboard so that we can quit “borrowing” their aunts’ and we can quit looking for at garage sales!! : )
I am the mother of a 15 year old boy with severe OCD/ADD. School is a challenge for him; he finds few successes in life. Two years ago, we discovered whitewater kayaking. Giving him a sense of pride, a day on the river takes all his concentration and provides relief from his restless mind. After a recent surfing lesson, I wanted to get a surfboard and take my son to the shore, but DH has been out of work for 5 months and money is tight. Your surfboard would help me to help my son feel better about himself!
Freedom, Strength, Beauty
There was no girls team; I wanted to run. Dad wasn’t happy, “Girls play tennis, they don’t run.” The guys and coach said yes. We won the 1972-1973 state track meet, I was the only girl; then came Title 9. Thirty-eight years later I still compete but now beside thousands of strong, beautiful women who run, cycle, surf, box, lift, throw, vault, climb, and kick. There’s a granddaughter on the way, this “sweet ride” will be hers. A symbol that passes along the value of Title 9; the freedom to compete and be strong and beautiful.
What’s moderation?
Why me?
Born with the moon in Cancer.
Known sorrow and pain. Know sun follows rain. Day, night. Summer, Winter. High tide, low. Big waves, little ones. Wisdom, Innocence. Age, youth.
Learned you can’t see light without dark to shine it in. The only true constant is change.
Rain brings wind. Big waves follow little ones. Life is hard, living is easy. Life is long, life is short.
Life is good. The tide is rising. And I’m three blocks from the beach and boardless!
The surfboard is beautiful! It reminds me of younger days living on the beach and the gratification and freedom of surfing. I left the coast and gave my board to a friends daughter to learn to surf. Now, I am 42 and a stay at home mom of wonderful children(ages 2 and 3) who require all my energy. To have this board hanging in my living room will remind me of my past, inspire my future, and enable me to teach my children love and respect for the ocean and the joy surfing brings.
I’m writing in support of contestant 853 (Nancy W). Nancy has met the man of her dreams, who is an avid surfer. It so happens that Nancy has always wanted to learn to surf…and now she has a man who wants to teach her. She just needs a board to facilitate the most exhilarating, romantic experience of her life! Not only that, they both would love to be married on a beach and conclude, not just with a kiss, but with a push off shore and out into the big blue ocean. Please help Nancy and Mike fulfill their dream! I’ve never known a more deserving couple than this. This truly is a match made in heaven!
I ‘m a 42 year old mom with my first child graduating this year. I still feel like I am 17 and yes I’ll admit at times still act like it. I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf. I grew up in New Jersey and in the summer would spend our weekends down the shore in Cape May and Wildwood . Life is to short to put it off anymore and would love to show off my new surfboard! I live in Montana and this will give me a great reason to visit the ocean, California or Hawaii..
Women fight to maintain balance in our lives, but with a great attitude and strong foundation, we’re able to stay afloat. Just like surfing. If you fall, the board is always there and ready to carry you over one more wave. My best friend and I learned to surf last summer and checked it off our “bucket list”. Like the marathon and century bike ride, we thought it was a one shot deal. I’ve since run 2 marathons, she signed up for another century, and I bet with that sweet board we’d be back at the beach too.
