I was “sweet sixteen” in 1966 when the Beach Boys were it, and surfing was the cool thing to do. We rode in a real woody, attempting to surf baby waves in NY.
I concluded I was an official surfer girl then, even though nobody believes me. That summer, we saw “The Endless Summer” bringing back warm memories. Forty three years later, I would like to conquer my fear of the water and challenge myself to learn a new sport. Winning this sweet surfboard would get me there, where I’m scared.
Hello, My name is Betsy and I am the Mother of two children, Alexa 21 yrs and Colt 15 yrs. While training for the St. George Marathon, I suffered a Major Heart Attack which changed my life. Since than I have qualified and completed the Boston Marathon. I went back to College to get my Nursing degree and found myself running on the cross country. I actually had the privilage of competing against my college age daughter at the Stanford University Invitational. Oh, she beat me by 5 minutes but cheered Mom in at the finish line. Im heading into my second year of nursing school in the Fall. But have the summer off. I have lived on the California coast all of my life and have always wanted to surf but never ventured out. The gift of a Surfboard is what I need to achieve another dream that I have always had. I truely enjoy your clothing line and reading the stories that go along with your athletes. Life is short, take it and Run and enjoy every moment.

Little Sister Wants to Shoot the Curl ~
It’s summer in Southern California, 1963. I am seven years old, and The Beach Boys are boss. My big brother is sixteen. He lives to surf. He drives to the beach with his friends where they do things like catch waves, hang five, and walk the nose. To his horror, I beg my parents, “Make him take me with them!” He is weak with relief when they say, “No! It’s too dangerous. You’re just a little girl.” Today, little sister’s gonna shoot the curl.
I’m a second year dental student with hopes of becoming a pediatric dentist. I think a surf theme would be an awesome theme for my dental practice one day. This surf board would be an amazing start to decorating that office and making it a fun place for kids! I’m going to be drowning in debt when I graduate, so any help in getting my office started (even if it’s only help with the decor) would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Of course, it’d be fantastic to learn how to surf with it before I get my dental office up and running…
Hey Ladies,
I would be honored to have this surfboard, I’ve had a dream ever since I was a kid of living in an area by the ocean and getting off work and surfing, waking up and surfing, spending the weekends surfing . I went surfing 4 years ago and I loved it and I have been try to surf ever since. I’m finally going to move to a coastal town in Northern California and start living my dream of becoming a surfer. This surfboard would help my fulfill my dreams.
Thank for letting me share my dreams.
Sincerely,
Megan
I would teach my little niece about the power of believing in yourself. What better way to impact the life of a young girl, then to spend time on the surf nurturing self-confidence. I’d teach her about instincts, courage…and how, with dedication and commitment, she too can walk on water.
More than anything, I want to win this surfboard. Living in a coastal Atlantic town in Massachusetts, exposure to this sport is a rarity…but with a little luck I could inspire her imagination and show her that anything is possible.
My mother has always been drawn to anything related to Hawaii and the Hawaiian culture. She overcame a huge hurtle of losing 180 pounds several years ago, but in doing so she wore her knees down so bad that she has a hard time doing any physical activities. Since then she has also learned that she has a defective gene causing arthritis all throughout her body. Being in the water is the only relief she can get on her body.
A few years ago, my mother and I took a trip to Hawaii and it was something we’ll always remember and aspire to visit again someday. When I saw this surfboard, I instantly thought of her and wished I could get it for her, especially since I have just moved away from home a week before mother’s day, and being a poor college student I couldn’t afford to buy her anything special. My only hope is that by winning this surfboard, it will symbolize the time we’ve shared together, and how much I love her.

This surfboard
makes sense. It fits.
Perfectly into the life
I’m building…
I will
Watch the horizon,
Keep hopeful.
Feel the pull…
pulsing, pulsing.
Recognize power, stay humble.
Find patience,
Feel rhythm.
I will
Brave the weather,
Measure fear,
Embrace excitement.
Take the chance…
again. again.
Slip. Struggle. Stand tall.
Find balance,
Inspire.
I will
Keep the faith,
Play hard, play fair.
Live simply. Live true.
Teach my daughters…
subtly, subtly.
Lead by example.
Three years ago I took my first surfing lesson. My intent was to meet a cute surfer boy! That did not happen, but I did become hooked! I cannot get enough! I especially love getting out there in the early morning or dusk when it is quiet and people that really love the ocean are out. I was fifteen when I began and I am begining college in the fall so it is unfortunate that owning a surfboard has been out of the question and renting is expensive and inconvinient. What a great graduation gift this would be!
