I was born to ride the waves, but for some reason, I missed the board! I was raised on the water, and have been told by my Mom, that I swam before I walked. Surfing has always intrigued me, but I could kick myself that I waited until last year when I was 46 years old to take my first surf lesson. Well, maybe it was a good idea I waited, because I “fell in love” and can’t get enough. Now, I go to surf shops and talk waves with the (young) local boys. Although I live inland, I am always checking the wave heights and whether it’s low or high tide. And I am always looking at surf board prices. I want a surf board so badly! What a fantastic opportunity it would be to win this beauty from Title Nine and teach other women like myself how to “fall in love” with surfing! P.S., Title Nine has the coolest clothes, watches, shoes, stuff ever!!!
I have been a single Mom for 12 years with my two children who are now 13 and 15. I am getting married to an amazing man who has three 7yr. olds(yup triplets) who are wonderful. This board would be the ultimate wedding gift for me. Both my son and fiance have boards. I have been learning to surf for the past two summer seasons using thiers. I love it!! Being out in he ocean! Going for waves and wiping out, I have mastered. In my busy life, I find surfing is my way of destressing and renewing. It is also something I can share with my children. We laugh, play and have so much fun except when we have to share a board. So, I would love a board of my very own. The board will be loved and cherished and have an active life.

I live right by the beach and I always sit and watch all the young people surfing. To me it looks like an amazing activity and I want to give it a shot. Surfing looks like a sport that you could never be too old to try. I would love to experience the feeling and the way to become one with nature like so many have expressed. Thank you! -Pam
I live on Cape Cod, Ma, where the summer time is the best time of the year. My best guy friends surfs, and I think it looks amazing and would love to try it! My dream is to move to California and live in a shack on the beach and surf all day long. Please help me with this dream, thanks so much T9 for creating such a great opportunity!
To step out of the world we live in from day to day and escape to another, the world of the ocean. I’ve always dreamed of becoming the next olympic surfer and when I finally got my very first surfboard my dreams were suddenly crushed when a friend snaped it. That was 2 years ago and Ive been devistated ever since because I’m not financial stable to buy another. The worst part is I’ve always lived just a few blocks from the ocean and every time I look out, it seems to be calling my name to paddle out.
First off, let me say I am so appreciative to Title 9 for empowering women to live their dreams! I grew up in Santa Barbara, Ca. A lot of my childhood and teenage years were spent sitting on the beach watching friends and later, boyfriends surf the beautiful waves of SoCal. I never had the confidence to go out there and join them….When I turned 45 I decided to take some surf lessons with my then 15 and 17 year old boys. They were hooked and so was I. They have both improved immeasurably and I’m still not so good, but I keep trying. As I am in my 49th year and facing the”empty-nest” phase of my life..I am determined to start taking some risks. My boys are now 19 and 21 and going to college and living in Santa Barbara! My husband and I live in the Sierra Foothills…7 hrs away from S.B. My goal is to visit my hometown often while they are there and surf as much as possible with them. Please help me realize my dream!!!
Sincerely, Susie French
I’m Kathleen, 51 years old, cheerful, athletic, wife, and mother of three sons. I spend every possible minute at the beach with my crew, watching them with envy as they all surf together.
Those boys never get off of their own boards long enough for me to borrow one and teach myself to surf. Affording my own surfboard has not been possible, winning this contest would be amazing.
I can visualize myself strolling into the ocean with my boys, riding wave after wave with them, or just floating in the water and being with them in quiet.
Thank you.
Hey T9,
My name is Sharon Smith and I am 48 years old. I have three children and one that has my love of surfing and the sea.
I am not sure that I deserve this SWEET board more than the next great gal.
However, let me tell you my story. I have been looking at surfing magazines for the last several years with dreamy eyes. Due to a car accident and family responsibilities, I have continued to delay the the SURFING BUG. I am just a novice. I grew up on the coast of South Carolina and watched the surfers with admiring eyes and caught a few great waves along the way. My constant love of the ocean and it’s magical powers have always been one of the dominating factors of my well-being.
I have pictures of Lady Surfers with their boards taped up on my work area to keep the spirit alive.
This board will be cherished and come alive with me whenever I rides the waves.
If possible, I will use it to inspire other women to be strong and follow their hearts out into the sea.
Joy and Sweet Ocean Dreams To You!

Teaching children is the best profession in the world. My son laughs aloud
when he learns something new; and I laugh with him. It is joyous and
nothing else matters at that moment. When he learns to surf and rides his
first wave, everyone in the whole ocean will be laughing-it is such a
contagious moment.
To ride a wave, bro, is to be part of a bigger life-one that has tradition
and culture worth every hour spent learning on the water. To teach my boy
to surf and learn about this life is an endless dream.

Inner peace, it’s a gift to have, yet challenging to obtain. I have always dreamed of learning to surf, and more recently dreamed of regaining my inner peace.
I’m fortunate to have 3 beautiful children and to have found a doctor for treatment of Thyroid Disease after being misdiagnosed and extremely tired for 9 years. I am excited at the potential of being active and regaining a sense of self.
I’ve made a promise that as I turn 40 this year I will take time for myself and surfing would be a treasured daily exercise both physically and spiritually.
