Wavy big sea sparkling arising into clouds landing where dreams are made.
Dareing to dreame a dream worth dreaming. Deciding to actually be self absorbed enough to want something. Realizing it is ok to want things and then going to go get them. Quite fearfully nice fresh refreshing salty cold water draws me into it. Such outrageous courage a board would bring. Bestowing a myriad of knowledge, learning, understanding, and timing. Yet such infinite horizons will open instantaneously as I squish my breasts into the board for the very first time and paddle out to heaven.
Where I may meet the moons reflection from ethereal the ephemeral.
I’m Sarah Fields, from Columbia SC. Each year my family goes to Folly Beach durng the summer to surf. My dad and brother have boards, but me and mommy do not. If I had a board I would be able surf with them too. Usually a person would share a surf board, but my brother and dad stay in the waves all day. By the time it’s my turn, mom says it’s too late. So, please, can I have a surf board.
I commute to Washington D.C. daily, so I do not get a chance to visit the great outdoors as much as I would like. I have only had the opportunity to surf once before (West Coast in San Diego) and now understand why surfers have great abs!! I would LOVE to have the opportunity to win the “sweet, 7′ sustainably-made ride” to decorate our basement. It would serve as a daily reminder of our carefree San Diego trip. I might even be a rebel and take a wild break to use it on the East coast/Atlantic Ocean. My family is planning a trip to the beach for the Christmas holiday (wink wink) and this would be the best gift ever!!!
I will do my best to convince you that I am deserving of your beautiful board. I live on the North Shore of Oahu and do not surf! I am 47, have been a runner all my life, and am healthy and strong. I own my own accounting and payroll business and work like a dog. Yes, in swim trunks and tank tops, rubber slippers and dogs at my feet, I am very blessed! I live 50 yards from the ocean and I do not surf. In January I made a promise to myself that this year, I would surf. Once tax season was over, I would buy a board. It would be perfect timing from the departure of the winter wave, to the return of the small, slow, beautiful wave. One I am sure I could surf! Such as it is, four of my clients have gone out of business, and I hesitate to spend the cash.
I would truly be thrilled to win your board.

Slip tip splish CRASH
Her blond hair was used to waving
to boarders on white-tipped blue curves
Wistfully.
Coral painted nails burrow
Into glass grains like crabs
and various other landlubbers
she was from corn farms and
in-land mountain ranges
from hard runs on winding country roads
to
whitewater kayaks in crisp mountain streams
never from golden tans, beaches and sands
though dreams took her there instead
anchored in place by
in-state tuition and fantasies
scuba lessons. swimming lessons.
Waiting, waiting for a life ahead
Now she’ll take a leap
She’ll splash in and join the ranks
Far from home in brimming blue
Reaching from toes to wispy clouds
Learning to catch the perfect wave.
Balancing dreams and reality
toe to heel, arms out flying.

My big sister is a 47 year old mother of 9 (yes that is nine) who has spent (as you can imagine) most of her life dedicated to raising her children. A runner for the last 7 or 8 years, she recently has taken an interest in competing in half and full marathon races. But her real dream has always been to learn to surf. On a recent once in a lifetime vacation she had the opportunity to take a surfing lesson at a surf shop in Maui. If Missouri was beachside where it is I know I would be able to find her…hanging ten! Pictures are available!
True. It’s possible that not one drop of saltwater will touch this surfboard’s cool, blue surface. Let me explain. I’m a mom to 3 surfing sons who love the beach as much as I do. They each have a surfboard. Trying to make our home feel like a “beach house” in the city, I’ve filled vases with shells, sand and sea glass. Even in the winter, we feel the pull of the ocean that is 3 hours away. The T9er surfboard would bring the beach even closer. Who knows? Maybe for my 45th birthday, I’ll learn to surf!
I don’t have a sad story. I’m just a teacher and my older students smirk when they find out I can surf. If I am being honest, I won’t donate the board, or save a whale while surfing on it. I won’t be helping the planet go “greener” and I won’t fish off it in between sets and send the food to a food bank.
Just for once in my middle child syndrome of a life, I will be selfish and use it just for me, and have a blast doing it! That’s why I should win.
As of today, I have three dreams. One is that my children will always come to me for advice and laugh with me. Second, that I publish my novels. Third, I want to learn to surf. I don’t want to take lessons, I want to go out there with my own board and learn from the ocean.
