This board has inspired me! When and if I win, I want to show my girls there 38 3/4 year old mom isnt afraid of trying new things. I’ve been having more fun the older I get, I will be running in my first 1/2 marathon this year. I want to show my daughters if you want something- nothing is stopping you but you!. You have to go out and enjoy life before it passes you by!. I will also give it to my 19 year old daughter after we try surfing!. Thanks!!
I was born with a stranded surfer inside a midwestern body. I’ve lived my whole life in the state of Missouri but have always loved the ocean and surfing. I’m can’t pass by a surfing magazine or picture with out buying it. I’m attracted to the ocean like a moth to a light bulb. I can imagine every day waking up to this board that gets me one step closer to letting my inner surfer out. Plus, we don’t have any surf shops any where close to where I live.
I would ride this sweet surfboard at my local surf spot in Hilo, Hawaii. Once the waves died down there, I would load the board up on the plane, jet back to Durango, CO, where I would ride it on my local river wave in the Animas River. When I’m not riding the waves and responsibilities call, I would be trying my best to protect the rivers, oceans, and lakes by collaborating with the people who decide how to manage watersheds in ecologically and culturally sound manner. And how best to learn the local knowledge than by paddling up and saying aloha on an awesome surf board?
I would love to win the incredibly sweet surfboard so that I could overcome my fear of the ocean. My husband has surfed for 20 years or so and he is already immersing our 22 month son in the local surf culture. They watch surf videos together, he watches my husband surf when we are at our local break about 10 minutes from our door. My girlfriends promise they can teach me, and I would love to have a board of my own to paddle out and learn so that I can surprise my husband when my son reaches the age that he can paddle out with him. Imagine their surprise when I come paddling up from further down in the line-up with a hearty what’s up bra! So if I am fortunate enough to win, you’ll have to keep it secret until I can learn and overcome my fear.
I am a massage therapist, wife and mother. My family and I live in Colorado where we enjoy together snowboarding, biking, floating and more . Due to the turn in the economy, my husband recently lost his job. We decided to sell everything and move back to Kauai, where I attended school and learned to surf. I will need that board. I have never won anything before besides a fleece in 1995 and the love of my husband. I would be very appreciative to win this board and be able to enjoy it surfing the waves of Kauai. Sincerely, Lisa
I love the water and all water sports but have always had a crazy irrational fear of surfing because of sharks. For me conquering my sports fears and physical limitations of my body has always been a way to meditate and move through emotional barriers in my life.It gives me the calm and the empowerment to know I can get through anything.I can see myself taking this board out and and breaking through the biggest phobia I have and feeling so free on the other side.
When I was seven, I used to goto the Vale theater on Saturday afternoons to watch Beach Party movies with my sister Renee. Frankie and Annette were real cool, daddio. I made a promise to myself that one day I would get a hip surfboard, and become the “moondoggie” of my generation. I never got that surfboard, but my dream lives on…
The question is, who doesn’t deserve this one-of-a-kind steed that allows some person to be beaten to a pulp, while these “waves” incessantly (and ever constantly) bulldoze them into a quite comfortable coral reef? However, this is only for the inexperienced egotistical persona, who falsely believes, by buying a costly (and may I add, beautiful) board, they may conquer the oceanic realm in one day, and after finding out the true ability it takes to learn how to stand up on the board in the water, allow it to collect dust. I am not this person, I love surfing.
I have been surfing for 6 yrs. Last summer we got to go to the beach for a total of 6 weeks. My mom never let me miss a hightide. No matter how cold or windy she would be out there with me sitting and watching me. Some mornings getting up as early as 5 so we could be out there so I wouldn’t miss any waves. I think she really wanted to get out there with me but she needs a board. I would love to see my mom out surfing with me on this board this summer.
