Title Nine,
I would be so “stoked” to be riding my first wave in on this board. You see, I am a wife of a long-time surfer and mom to 4 surfers. I’m the one on the beach being the official photographer, making sure no one has drowned or been bitten by a shark!
Sure, I’ve tried surfing on my husband’s board (too big) or my son’s board (too small). With my size and experience this 7 footer would suit me as Goldilocks says, “just right”!
How cool would it be to hit the beach and ride together as a family!
Last summer I got my very first surfing lesson at age 35. It was the only time I saw my boyfriend sober in 8 months. A month after breaking it off with the out of control alcoholic I was diagnosed with cancer. I have had a long battle, but am now cancer free. My goal has always been to get back into the water where I can once again feel that unique bond and calm that the ocean brings. I am now mentally and physically healthy and continue to find even the thought of the ocean brings inner peace.
Surfing is the perfect metaphor for life. If you want to hang ten, you have to be willing to wipe out along the way.
I envision displaying this gorgeous piece of art in our family room to serve as a daily reminder – to myself and, more importantly, to my four-year-old son – that growth comes from taking risks. (We live in Chicago, so it may be awhile before we catch a wave!) I want him to grow up eager to try new things without fearing failure, and I want to do more of that myself.
I volunteer at our public library (3,000 sq ft and full of life!) and think this board would be a welcomed addition to our library. We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to get the kids into reading; why not ride a wave into your favorite book? Getting kids interested in reading gives them an edge in life and if they become life long readers, their ride will never end! So, let’s catch the reading wave and hang on- it’s a long ride!
Hey Title Nine,
I’d love to win this board. I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf. In fact it’s #5 on my “bucket list”. If I won this board, I’d display it in my classroom so I could tell all my students that you can do anything you set your mind to, no matter how old you are! !
Title Nine, you inspire me everytime I open your catalog or visit your website. You’re the coolest! ! Thanks for the motivation to stay active! !
BTW… I’d be the coolest teacher in the world with an actual surf board hanging in my class… think about it! ! !
After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 4 years ago I was forced to give up my time in the water. During some very painful treatments my Dr would say, “find your happy place” My “happy place” was on my board in the water. Unfortunately, I had given my board away as I thought I’d never be strong enough to lift myself up. After 4 long years of rehab I went for the first time out to try out my HAPPY PLACE….and I succeeded. Please allow me the opportunity to show others with this disease DARE TO DREAM.
Wow! What a great board! I grew up about 5 minutes from the ocean, and now that I am in veterinary school in Georgia (which I love!) I feel a little landlocked! I would love to win this prize so I could paddle board on some of the lakes near campus, and reminisce about my ocean 🙂 Besides, after a stressful day of studying, or getting covered in all sorts of nasty animal stuff, its nice to get out on the water, whatever kind of water that may be! P.S. Thanks for your great clothes, they actually hold up to all my animals! Now that’s a performance test!
I am 51 years old and have recently discovered the joys of riding on the top of the world…Although I am a relative beginner to the sport, the Montauk Surfer Girls have embraced me and allowed me to be a part of the great girl surfing society. We have monthly potluck dinners and I have hosted one of the dinners in my mobile home at the trailer park on the break at Ditch Plains, NY…I would love to show off this very sweet charmer of a board to envious boys! 🙂
It was a big dream of mine to learn to surf when I was 13. I have dealt with anxiety and depression problems all my life and it was hard to go out and try to surf but my mom gave me confidence to just go out there and do it. I’d really like it if I could surf with my mom because she gave me the confidence to go out the first time and I wish we could share it together. I’m going off to college next year and I’m taking my surfboard with me because I’m trying to be an art therapist and my goal is to help girls like me overcome there anxiety by going out and catching even the smallest wave so they will realize like I did that they can do anything. I wish I could win this board for my mom to show her how far she has taken me.
BALANCE- Get it!
One of titlenine’s ad slogans.
Fire & Water – Female firefighter, faced with fire, drawn to water
Career & Play – Determined professionally, yet honor my inner child
Give & Recieve – Mentor female future fighfighters, finding the “me” time (surfing)
True balance comes from being centered. For balance in surfing and life stay centered for a good ride.
