Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

This board will shine in my students eyes.
It will shine of distant oceans and faraway lands
where blue skies replace
leaden grey,
where sand shimmers
instead of concrete sidewalks
and perfect palms stretch
taller than brown brick buildings.
This board will glide
across the landlocked walls
of my small urban classroom
nailed down
in the center of this vast, great country.
This board will shine and glide
(oh, how it will shine!)
across the landlocked eyes
of my struggling teen students
and,
perhaps,
teach them to dream.
I can still remember my first board at the age of 3.The board was styrofoam, of course, it would last for a short time as it would break so I would go through quite a few of these boards each summer. I moved on to better “real” boards and continued surfing through my late 20s, but I discontinued as life responsibilites took over and my surfing was lost through the years. I am on a personal adventure to recapture surfing and a happy fullfilling life, and this board would help me to continue on my adventure into rediscovering life beyond working, working, and working.
Visualize…me and this beautiful board heading out to the awesome surf!
I believe everyone should have a place of peace, I have two: the mountains and ocean. My first trip as an independent was to Maui, where I learned to surf for the first time. It was during this trip where I felt at peace and the exhilaration of crashing into the ocean and fell in love with floating for hours, learning what it was like to be free and one with something. I am now in Denver yearning to feel exhilarated and at peace with the greatness of the ocean again.
I deserve to win this fabulous surfboard because I am a forty year old mom who is in need of a serious new adventure. I need to learn something new, step out of my comfort zone and I think riding a wave would be the perfect escape! And..to be totally honest–I love the colors!
“I’m going to be 50 this August and am looking to fulfill a dream! I want to ride! I want to surf in Minnesota. Our “North Shore” is freshwater Lake Superior; its more shoreline around Great Lakes than the shores of the oceans around the U.S.! This is a COLD-water sport!
About 25 guys and only a few women have tried.
I only saw Hawaii when I was 19 (right after my dad died of cancer).
The annual Surf Fest in Duluth, Minnesota is June 6th, 2009. I’d love to tell every one I have a board coming!!”
As an extremely environmentally conscious person, I promise not to let this beautiful board be put to waste. Last September, I lost my job, apartment, car, all my surfboards, and found out I was pregnant within one year. I had to move back in with my parents, far from any beach. Surfing means everything to me, I feel empty without it. I can hardly afford diapers and formula but still dream of giving my daughter the gift of surf. For me, the board would symbolize the hope of a better life for my daughter and I. Mahalo.
Me: a Michigan tomboy, 3rd grade visit to Shedd Aquarium and knew the ocean called my name, college in Ohio with whispers of the ocean satisfied by the Great Lakes, Miami for M.S. in marine biology, learned to ride the waves, fell in love with the pull of the sea, traveled to Australia and the Bahamas for field work, lived ocean life. Now: new chapter as I start my Ph.D. on the Outer Banks, know that the waves will always be my retreat and balance.
Ocean work all day
Still not enough water time
Splash out on my Carve
My beautiful wife is the mother of our seven year old triplet daughters.
They are the joy of her life. Being premature triplets, they have had their share of health issues with one having Cerebral Palsy. She is a Registered Nurse, but has
been unable to work while caring for the girls. Now that they are in school,
she has the opportunity to go back to Nursing and focus more
time on herself. I am a Marine and just received orders to Hawaii for a
three year tour. I would love her to learn to surf and have fun!
Hi! I would love to win this stellar surfboard because I am a full-time college student craving a break from the books. There is nothing better than catching waves to escape from textbooks and finals!
In my youth, I learned to ride a homemade 12ft. surfboard. I actually earned a spot as an ocean lifeguard, beating out about 20 young men, due to the fact I could ride and paddle. Now, I am in my 60s and have not been on a board for over 44 years. I still lifeguard every summer. I would love to get back on the board and become a certified ocean guard again! I swim 3 times a week, snowboard, and play on a womens ice hockey team in the winter to stay in shape. Surfing was my first love in 1965. Can we still do some of things we did as youth? YES! Lets board ladies.
