The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

Simply put: I should win the T9er Surfboard because I am a mom working 24/7 to expose and promote an active lifestyle to two future T9ers!

Growing up in the Midwest, the only waves I saw were the amber ones of grain.
A 46-year-old former Iowan, I want to fully ride a wave before I turn 50 in Florida. I currently have a decades old dull yellow barge of a board given to me by my now ex-boyfriend. Neither board nor boyfriend worked out. I would be amped to take lessons on a board I’m not embarrassed to carry. As the only woman in her 40s learning to surf, I already feel like a conspicuous kook. Help me carve out some dignity on the beach.
Surfboards are for surfing,
not for tables or for books;
not for benches or for ironing,
or chopping boards for cooks.
Surfboards are for surfing
and this one would get ridden;
not propped up in a dark garage,
or in the basement, hidden.
This surfboard’s meant for surfing,
to float on gentle curl,
first wax, then leash,
then tender care,
in the company of a girl.
Costa Rica Surfing was the best trip of my life
I wish that I could start my day each day out on the shore
I love the feel out on the wave, slicing like a knife
Can’t wait to be back at the beach, always wanting more!
Since the age of three and ten, I’ve wanted nothing else.
The music of the ocean strikes a fresh and lively chord.
Now that I am twenty and five, it’s time that this should change.
Please let my active dreams come true of owning a surf board.
Thanks T9!
I was born on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Almost every day, my dad would grab his longboard and go carve some waves. From where we lived, you could jump from our front door into the ocean. When I was a baby my dad would stand me up on the board and I would “surf”. When we moved to Newport, RI, he was injured and could no longer surf. I wish to continue his love of surfing, and thats why I should have this board. Aloha!
Balance: A Haiku
A move to the beach;
To help care for those in need;
AND care for myself.
Hi T9’rs. I’m a 47 year old mixed animal practice veterinarian with not much time to play. I workout at the Y across the street after work. When serious play time happens AND the weather is good I hop to Narragansett and take a vintage Harbour longboard out to play. I’m always afraid this novice surfer will hurt the vintage board. Help! If I get the carve board I’ll meet you ‘down the Cape’ for a catalog shoot with EAST COAST women. P.S. I’ve been using T9 since you were recommended by a softball teammate in 1991.
It’s Mother’s Day and like all moms I deserve a sweet ride.I deserve to relax in the rolling waves of the ocean. I deserve to feel the excitement of catching a wave. But being a mom what I want and deserve is soon replace by what my children need. Spending money on a desire is unacceptable at this point. I need to be sensible and save money for my daughter’s college. Moms put our children first. This is what we do. In my mind I have the freedom to travel, to surf to but everyone elses needs on hold for 30 minutes. Unfortunitey at 47 years old and the only way I am going to surf is to win a surf board. I watch the surfers at the beach near my house and they are living in the moment. I imagine that is would be a time of inner peace a moment in a peace in a hectic day. I dream of mine that hopefully will come true while I am young enough to enjoy it. I remind myself that I am as young as I think and anything is possible. That is why I wrote this entry. It is the only contest I have ever written. Something inside of me is telling be that hope is still alive and good things do happen everyday.
This is a sweet surf board! Living in Vermont there isn’t much chance on Lake Champlain to catch a huge wave to surf on, so if I won this surf board I would contact my sister & brother-in-law in Florida to help me find a girl-club, that specializes in east coast surfing, to help me find a active young girl who would be trilled to learn how to surf, specially with such a beautiful surf board. My brother-in-law use to surf everyday on the California coast!
