Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

Maine
As I lie on the rocks, I can see a sailboat going by.
The colorful buoys are bobbing slightly up and down,
And I can hear the waves against the rocks.
I can still make out the clubhouse we once built,
When we added pieces of driftwood and an old lobster trap we found.
I can see the treehouse we built years ago,
Standing strong against the ocean wind.
There is a small wodden swing in the distance,
And I can still remember those two little girls,
Who we once were,
Amazed by the brilliance of the ocean.
WAVES OF LIFE
I am a mama with a purpose to connect with her child. Thaddeus has Autism, and surfing changed his life. Learning and the unknown are challenges for kids with Autism. He surfs the waves, and now rides life with new confidence. We use “wipeouts” as a metaphor for him—to help him understand that trying something new is fun, and that learning is a win/fail process. We talk about how “wipeouts” in life are cool, and all part of growing and learning. I need that board to help me teach my boy about the awesome world we live in.
The life of a surfer is definitely the life for me. However, I am currently land-locked; the only body of water near me is the mighty, muddy, Mississippi River, and I would never ever dream of trying to catch a wave on her, the only thing I would catch might include cholera or a tug from the undertow. Spring is here, though, and that sweet Carve board would go quite nicely with one of my great Carve outfits. If nothing else, I would be living my fantasy of white sand beach on the white plush carpet in my apartment. That board would look awesome in the corner of my room where I could glance at it each night and have sweet dreams about awesome waves and a true surfin’ safari in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
Three fabulous kids.
Love to surf but have no boards.
Surfboard renting bites.
My name is Emma. I am 20 years old, and a junior in college. My dad’s family has a summer house in Capitol Island, Maine, and my younger sister Maddie and I always love to rent surf boards and go surfing on the ocean. Doing this really brings us together and it is a strong tradition. I would really love to have my own surfboard, because although Maine is our home, and surfing a big part of my weekends and summers, I am very tight on money right now because of college and I can’t afford one.
The reason that i should win this amazing surf board is because my grades in school were lower then what my parents wanted and wanted them back up to A’s. So i made a deal with them that if i got my grades back up that i could move to the big room upstairs in my house and have that as my room. They said that was fine and agreed. Now i have been doing my very best to get my grades back up in school and im in 7th grade so its hard to get those grades up with all the stress. But i finnaly got my grades up 2 A’s and have to keep them that way till the end of the year. So please comsider me as the winner of this awesome surf board.
If i win, my room will be complete.
For most of the last 4 years, I’ve lived in rural India on an old dirt road called Kadalmangalam. I run an organization that helps children and families victimized by leprosy (risingstaroutreach.org). We give the kids a life other than begging on the streets. When I came home to California this year, I was thrilled to find you. It feels like you read my journal and designed a store to fit the things I value most: adventure, caring, optimism, and honesty. And after all those years melting in India, I’m craving the ocean!
Hi,
My name is Cyrstal. I belong to a middle class family & I love adventure.
My family always forced me to become an engineer but I wanted to explore the world of forest, sea and mountain. Surfboard is the most important part of my life.
I am a 39 year old mom to a child with autism and we love adventures. I want to show him the world even though he doesn’t always recognize it. I have taken him sailing, kayaking, and I would love to add surfing to the list. I promise that fabulous surfing board would be loved and used!
That surfboard represents the end of excuses. 37 years on Earth, 31 of those in Florida, and never once did I try to surf…too scared, too unskilled, too weak. I’m not going to let “too old” creep onto that list.
There’s always a reason to NOT attempt something, but I’m halting that habit. Want to surf? You bet I do. Scared to try? YEP! Gonna do it anyway? “Heck yes!” she says fervently.
That surfboard will be a 7-foot monument to my commitment to stop finding reasons why NOT, and to start DOING. Can I get an “amen!?”
Growing up at the beach in Florida, my family loved the water, but surfing was a sport beyond our means. My dad helped my sister, our friends, and me build skim boards in our garage, and we lugged those heavy things to the beach in home-made bags made from outgrown blue jeans (the waistbands made great shoulder straps, and the pockets held our wax).
Now, my husband and I are professionals in our mid-40s, landlocked in Colorado. This Christmas, we are fulfilling a lifelong dream and booking a trip to Costa Rica to learn to surf. We are excited about “surf school” and about experiencing what we’ve already learned is a friendly, generous culture. I’d like to take my T-9 Carve surfboard with me. Next weekend, I’m visiting my local T-9 store to pick out my swimsuit…because I know it will stay on as I fall off into the waves!
