Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

I NEED THIS BOARD!!! i am a 47 year old mother of three, work full time. i (unfortunately) got hit by a car a while back, leading to some pretty serious arthritis in my right hip. 4 years ago i had to undergo a hip replacement and the pain was gone! i am back to snow skiing but i have been dreaming about surfing as a secondary sport. i have been working out, working toward my goal of one day standing out on the waves. i don’t know if i’ll be able to do it, because although my legs are MUCH stronger now than they were 5 years ago, i’m not sure the ‘hardware’ in my hip will let me make the bends and jumps to get up to surf. i’m working toward it though. i don’t look like a surf model, for sure. but i dream of standing up on the waves! GIMME THE BOARD!!! You won’t regret it!
I am a 43 year old mother of five. Girls ages 22, 21,20 and two boys ages 15 and, 16.I take care of my mother in law who lives in our home who suffers with alzeheimers. She also suffers a language barrier as she immigrated from Hungary wwhen she was 25. I live everyday like it is my last. Although I do not have much time for myself, I love the outdoors, and have just begun to explore new adventures. I have white water rafted in Glacier National Park. Camped in the Boundary Waters Conoe Area, and bicycled 36 miles down an inactive volcano. I want to surf and I would love to have that awesome board. I am a wife, mom, caretaker, and now a daretaker.
Why do I deserve this one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard by Entropy? Because I am 41 yrs old and have never had the guts or opportunity to ride one but why not start now if I win it? I can try it out in Cocoa Beach at my in-laws’ place on the beach. It always looks like so much fun when we’re on the beach. If it turns out that I bomb at surfing I can always use it as a conversation piece at home or maybe try snow surfing with it since I live in New England and it’s been a very LONG winter here!!!
Thanks!
Tracy
Two years before my son was born, I took up surfing and loved it! I purchased a beautiful Stewart longboard and was just getting the hang of it when I got pregnant. My (now ex) husband left me for the next-door neighbor when I was 6 months pregnant. In the middle of the divorce, he “borrowed” my surfboard and sold it for the cash. I have been out of the water ever since. My son is now seven, and I’d like to “take the plunge” into the surf world again. Your beautiful board would be the perfect ride.
I am 48 years old and finally moved to a beach area after living in the country my whole life. I have met so many surfers here in Wilmington, NC that I cannot wait to learn to surf. I exercise every day and keep in shape just to learn to surf. I have been on all the web sites; craigslist and e-bay looking to buy a board I can afford, but so far I haven’t found one. I don’t have a lot of money so up to now I am still watching others surf. This is the year for me to learn. The Carve surfboard contest is just what I have been looking for.
I don’t want to take pictures of other surfers anymore . I want to be one!!
I defend women. I do nonprofit legal work to help victims of domestic violence. Prior to this work, I did social work for many years helping pregnant women receive medical assistance. I have always worked for women but during MY time I surf. I won’t say that I surf well, at least not compared to the men at my beach that have the time to live the surf bum life. It is unlikely I will ever have that luxury. My first board was one I got from a friend. I began surfing in my early twenties. I was too intimidated by the guys to surf when I was a teen. The glass on that first board was broken so my stepfather fixed it and in the process glassed in a calendar page of the Powerpuff girls. We called it the powerpuff board. The next longboard I had belonged to him and I rode it for 6 years because I didn’t have the money as a social worker and single mom to buy another. There were times in the line up that I was teased that my board wasn’t good enough, maybe I would surf better if I had a better board. Perhaps I would surf better if I didn’t spend my nonsurfing hours working to help women. But… I find my Zen in the water… good board or not.. good waves or not. I live for Florida surf and a longboard. I sneak away from court after having obtained an injunction for a victim and steal off to Flagler beach for some Zen time. I think I would represent what Title Nine is about as a rode a board fit for a girl! Stand back guys!
As a birthday gift in 2002 my best friend paid for me to attend Surf Diva school in San Diego California. Unfortunately, the day that we attended surf school wasn’t the best day for surfing. It was overcast, not very warm, a little drizzley, and NO WAVES. I did however, manage to stand up and surf a short distance on the minute surf that was coming in. If I could win the surf board, I would take it back to a beach, and find out what it is like to catch a REAL WAVE.
I need to play again.
I was never athletic in school. I always thought I was uncoordinated. “Wet noodle” and “loose as a goose” they’d call me.
After I had my first son, I kicked it up a notch, and started really training. I ran and ran…first running a team relay (in the snow, the morning after I found out I was pregnant with my second son), until I worked my way up to half marathons. What a high! What a feeling! I am an athlete! But just as I was really enjoying it, I tore my meniscus. And again. And then the other one.
In a period of 15 months, I had five knee surgeries, the last to break my tibia and straighten my bow-leggedness which was behind the repeated injuries. I spent 14 weeks on crutches this winter.
I can’t be held down any longer.
I need a new sport.
Get me to the beach!
You could say Surfing is on my bucket list……which is actually funny seeing as I don’t like water! But, I like the adventure and think it looks like fun. Plus, I am a pretty strong swimmer- thanks mom for paying for all those swim lessons 🙂
I love an adventure- its great for my kids to see my excitement of trying something new. I can’t wait for my heart to race in anticipation of trying to stand for the first time! Plus, my kids will love the pretty blue color.
Thanks so much!
Connie
I’m a fun-loving Mama, but many days I’m stuck in the monotony of raising babies and taking care of business. Picturing myself on that sweet ride is like a breath of fresh air. Pura vida baby!
