Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

I’m Devon and I live at the Jersey Shore. You know Atlantic City, sun, sand and surf (well sortof). You’d think I’d be at the beach all the time and surfing all the time. The truth of the matter is that I haven’t been able to do that. I’ve never been able to afford a good surf board, not to mention I’m unemployed. I’ve always wanted to learn how to surf and if I won this board I would try to make a surfing club for girls. I know for a fact that we girls do surf, but unfortunately around here, often you don’t hear about it. I want to change that.
My soul is of the ocean, yet my body resides in the middle of the Nevada desert. Since moving here twelve years ago, my life has become one continuous set of oceanic metaphors. That first year of marriage? A wicked rip-tide. Our first business venture? Ugly wipeout! The bonus/third baby at 40? One perpetual set of 12 foot swells! My first postpartum marathon? Ssweeeet!!!
Your stunning surfboard would become our headboard in order to inspire dreams viable enough to return our family back to the water’s edge – where, of course, life would become tubular once again!!!
Thank you, Kasey ; O
At 44 years old, I’m finally striking a balance in my life. Our family is always on the go and the “to do” list seems never ending. But, when my son & I surf everything seems to fall into perspective. My son gets the idea of balance, but I am working hard to teach my sweet 15 year old daughter the same (before she hits her 40’s!) So, with a wonderful new surfboard, I’d give my daughter my board. We could thoroughly enjoy the beautiful Gulf of Mexico together and experience the joy and exhilaration of catching some waves.
I teach reading, math, science, writing and most importantly, how to be a “responsive” individual to people, old and young. In my Responsive Classroom, you can’t help but to love reading and writing. My eyes tear when they beam at me with the look– “Oh my Gosh! I can READ it!” My joy abounds when one reads an essay and another comments, “You’re making me cry that was so GOOD!”
My reading bathtub came as a gift when I moved to CT. The ratty black claw foot became a blue-sky-day. I’ve moved the heavy-hunk a few times, taking suburban jobs, finally coming back to the inner city, my kind of multicultural environment. My students are delightful! They are full of mischief at times, but settle in like champs when it comes to Buddy Reading in the tub. One child had never been in a regular classroom; his behavior deemed too unpredictable. For him our tub is straight from heaven. Children read at different levels, becoming equals when reading in the tub. The surfboard idea came from the lovely CeCe. Writer extraordinaire, she often asks to write in the tub. I thought, “ Surfboard as a writing table—THE coolest extreme motivator.”

Oh the places I would go with this “Sweet Surfboard”. First I would catch a few waves on the Maryland shore. I can see the adventures that await me on the horizon. With my two daughter’s in tow we head on down to the Florida Coast. The water might be a bit warm, but we can’t stew long for we hear of a great big ocean they call the Pacific. We sail into Sunny California. Pick a beach, any beach, but first we must stop at the Title Nine shop for some gear…..Oh the Places we would dream of going….
My daughter – I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful 18 month old daughter. I want her growing up knowing that being a female athlete is the “normal” thing to do. She needs to see her mom kicking a soccer ball, paddling a kayak and surfing a wave. I never want her to hear the phrase “throw like a girl”. She needs to see from an early age that a female athlete is beautiful, strong and healthy. A surfboard is just one of the many ways I will show her!
S…is for Striving everyday to guide my children to reach for their dreams.
W…is for “When you try your very best in all you do,…
E…is for Everything is possible, if you live an honest life, giving back to others and the world,” they hear me say.
E…is for Even a Mommy can dream and learn to ride a surfboard, as many falls as it takes,…
T…is for Trying so diligently and lovingly to teach her children by example and word to reach for the stars above and below the beautiful, sweet, Mother Sea.
The ocean covers 72% of the Earth’s surface, but we know more about the moon. We’ve barely scratched the surface.
It’s kind of like being a female athlete – it’s largely unchartered territory. Personally, I feel like the passing of Title Nine is my deed, my charter, for discovery; and the surfboard is as good a vessel as there could be… for pushing the limit, for navigating the unknown and for riding the waves…. The waves of progress, the waves going forward, and the waves of girls kicking ass and taking on the tide.
I would make sure that there’s one more girl out there, on her board, leading the way.
Aloha! I am living in a romote and little town of Hana, Maui. Most people here have their surf board in their truck or car. That’s what’s missing for me–the surf board. I’m athletic but never tried to surf. I’m 49 and don’t believe age matters unless you’re cheese. The weather is mostly surfable, and if not, I can still practice. I’ve never even touched a board, let alone thought to own one. However, title nine’s board should have a home here on Maui with me, so I can learn and enjoy the water all year long.

As a physical education teacher in FL to over 800 students I am dedicated to teaching the importance of physical, emotional and mental health to young bodies. This surf board is just what my students need to give them a fresh edge to activity. This board will be a part of a boot camp training station for my students coming to my classes in Sept. of 2009. This beautiful blue flowered board will not only entice the girls but challenge the the boys. The board will be mounted on a ball and socket platform that will be able to move forward, backward, and side to side. My students will be able to build their physchomotor development through balance and coordination. Their cognitive development will be challenged through mastering their muscles used. And their afffective domain will be enhanced by encouraging and guiding their fellow classmates to stay on the board. And who will be recognized for motivating students toward a healthy lifestyle TITLE NINE!
