Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).

I dream of learning to surf at a women’s surf camp with my two best friends to commemorate our 40th birthdays. We attended school, trained, raced, traveled and lived together. We are “sisters”: an Olympic X-country skier, a mountain bike racer, and a ski / snowboard instructor. All returning to live in our home town, we are priveleged to have witnessed each ohter’s major life events. Recently we were reunited during one of our mother’s passing. All the memories, stories, talk of aspirations, dreams and of life being short led me to share this wish with them.
Surfing lessons, toenail painting, and a pick up soccer game is how my three buddies and I spent our 40th birthdays. Like it or not, we are the role models for our daughters…and sons. That sustainably made board reminds us to hang on to our gal pals, stay fit enough to keep playing, and not to pass by an adventure. And, yes, that beautiful board deserves to get wet. Should we all be so lucky to dive in and embrace that proverbial wave called “life.”
I am 51 years old and have been working my BUTT off in the gym for the last 3 years to straighten out a major scoliosis that I have had since I was 13. I walked with a limp back then, but have straightened and strengthened by body so that my walk is even now. I basically had to re-learn how to walk. With intensive effort on my part and amazing body knowledge on the part of my wonderful personal trainer (Cam), I am almost O.K.
I have been on a journey to straighten my back and get rid of my pain for the last 21 years. It started with physical therapy and has included massage, yoga, weight training and now I’m hanging and swinging in the gym doing these crazy exercises that are really working and complimenting all of the things that I did before! I’ve met a lot of terrific people along the way who have helped me with my quest and now, my goal is within sight. I have great posture, only a trace of a curve and am pain-free for the first time in over 30 years.
I have always been active, running, hiking, etc., but lacked the balance (because of my back curve) to do stuff like surf. I can balance now and sure would love to try out that cool looking board!
Today is my birthday. 43 years old…how did that happen?
The past year has brought some great things…a new job, a new dog, and a new house at the beach. I am now able to indulge my love of the ocean daily, by swim, kayak, or paddleboard. The year would truly be complete if I could add a morning surf to to the list.
Here’s to the next 43!
At 3 months old, my daughter inched her way off the towel; hands swirled in the sand. On daily walks to the beach until she was 3, she oggled at surfers by the pier. She told everyone she lived in “Happenin’ Beach” (Manhattan Beach)! Then we moved to virtually landlocked Germany! Later we moved to landlocked Bedford,NY. Each summer, we return to “Happenin’ Beach” for fun and sun; and surf lessons! Marjorie-Sofia will be 13 on June 18! The most incredible gift I could give her would be that “awesome board”!
….so I live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia, and you know (I’m hoping) that we will one day be on the coast…the beautiful coast of Roanoke, VA. I picture it being a harbor town…I have ALWAYS loved the ocean and really would love to live there one day. Getting this surfboard is the first step I have to take =). Another reason I need this surfboard is that my backyard stays wet! And it’s been raining for days…the animals are starting to pair up, and I want to be prepared! =)
While I grew up on the beaches of Long Island and had a knack for dating surfers, none could get me to surf. Not that they didn’t try, but ‘something’ held me back….the waves were too big…..or too small….or non-existent…..or the water was too cold….or there were jellyfish…..
I’m not afraid of the water, in fact, I love boogie-boarding. But, I just couldn’t make the leap to the surfboard.
This past year, I turned the ripe young age of 40, so I would use this surfboard to finally learn. My husband will be more than happy to teach me!
Self confidence is a rollercoaster ride for most women. One day you can conquer the world and the next day you feel a bit less ambitious. Building self confidence and maintaining it is like any other type of exercise where you need to regularly train it, nurture it, and keep it healthy so that we can live the best life possible; a life where we take the bull by the horns and accomplish all that we set out to do. This board is a perfect self confidence gym, to be shared with others so they can grow with you.
I grew up in Central America, by the beach. We never could afford a surfboard for me, so I resorted to bodysurfing (and dating and hanging out with the surfer boys to be able to get to use a board.) Now I’m a married mom of three who still dreams of having her own board and riding the waves with my kiddos!
My name is Kick-ass Katie. I’m an ovarian cancer survivor who lives in Bozeman, Montana. I would love to win this incredible surf board and try it out wake surfing here in Montana this summer and give it a rip down the ridge in the pow-pow at Bridger Bowl ski area this winter. Depending on how that goes it may end up as a cool new gate in our back yard with twin peaks. And my husband is a LEED-AP Architect so I can really appreciate the importance of why it’s sustainably made. Go Mother Nature!
