Wanna win this sweet surfboard?
The contest period has ended. Thank you for all the amazing entries. Stay tuned over the next few days for the announcement of our winners!
We worked with our friends over at Carve Designs to create a one-of-a-kind T9er surfboard (shaped by Entropy) for one of you lucky ladies to win. Here’s all we’re asking – dazzle us with your creativity by telling us why YOU deserve this sweet 7′ sustainably-made ride.
Would you like to fulfill a life-long dream to catch a wave? Use it as a surf deco coffee table, or save drowning children in faraway oceans? Whatever the cause, tell us in 99 words or less by posting a comment below.
Share your words by June 1st, 2009 for a chance to win the surfboard awesomeness. Fret not, ’cause we’ll be giving away 2 prizes to the runners-up ($100 gift card + Team T9 membership).
Heads Up: Our contests are only open to Title Nine eMail subscribers. They are our way of saying thanks to our loyal customers. So if you aren’t already a subscriber you will become one by submitting your entry. Click Here to read the official rules.

I was born on the beach in Santa Cruz (circa 1964). The hospital is, of course, no longer there, but… I’ve always loved the beach no matter what the weather. I felt that it was my birthright(?) to know how to surf. Well, my family was not from money nor was a male influence around to encourage such a desire. Yet, it never waned. Sure, I body-surfed and boogie boarded, but there was something much more “magical” about watching those guys (and chickies) on those rad boards.
Nine years ago, my first daughter was born. My husband swore to send me to “Surf Diva” surf school… But… life happens and I have yet to surf…Yet! I saw this contest and, well, this old mama still wants to surf & that is one beautiful board!
Why not me? If I had a surfboard I would no longer have any excuse to not go to some sunny clime and test it out. Well, there is the fear of sharks and drowning do to my inability to float, otherwise I am there.
Why I deserve a new board… After 2.5 years of trying, we finally conceived!! Husband was in the mortgage industry, lost job. I was a Realtor, also lost job. Lost rental units. Had beautiful, healthy baby. Had to file BK. Got pregnant again…Lost house. Had to relocate to CO from CA, hoping to get back on feet. Had baby #2. Husband commutes 4 hours a day to work, works 13 days straight then gets one day off. Still struggling, every penny matters. In a very small town about 30 minutes to the nearest grocery. When we return to San Diego next spring, we really need relaxation, exhilaration and an awesome workout! (still haven’t lost those extra baby pounds…)
Thank you for your consideration.
With the sand beneath my toes…
The sea breeze tingling my nose
The ocean scene is what I know.
My college choice led me to the Newport coast
To which I propose a celebration toast.
However college funds have led me dry
Causing my surfing dreams to cry.
It burns to be so close and not get to try.
So if you were to give this board to me,
Happy I’ll forever be.
And if I win I promise you…
In a single day I’ll try, no not try but do,
Surf Huntington, Newport, Costa Mesa and Laguna too.
I am entering the Carve/Entropy contest because there is one thing on this list I have yet to do.

Upon close evaluation I have decided that the best use of the above displayed board is clearly Scurfing!!! Scurfing, in case you are unaware, is surfing behind a powerboat – kindof like wakeboarding but way more fun. As a bonafide ocean nut i’ve spent my life trying to share the wonders of the aquatic world with others, most recently as an outdoor ed marine biology teacher in california. However, in recognition of some of the severe conservation issues that need to be addressed in the worlds oceans (and especially with our fisheries), I gave up my semi-nomadic and wicked fun teaching life to work for a marine conservation focused non-profit in Boston. The transition has been incredibly challenging for me, as my lifestyle has taken a 180 degree turn from loads of fun outdoor time in and on the ocean to almost none as I work infront of a computer in an office writing and lobbying to government and corporate partners to encourage the sustainable use of our ocean’s resources. Surfing and scurfing is one of the few ways I could still enjoy the ocean while I continue my work trying to protect our oceans. I have a friend with a boat, but I don’t have a board! Help keep me sane by hooking me up with this awesome board!!!
All my life I have been a water baby. I loved the peacefulness of being in the water. I met my husband in 1987 and moved to Australia. We had no money, and for our first Christmas together John bought me a cheap boogie board. I didn’t care that it was made of foam and had two fabricated fins. I enjoyed every moment. I live in Maine now, have two kids, ski like a maniac and want to surf like one too (wet suit and all). I promise I will put it to good use!
How do you put your dreams into 99 words or less? I guess you have to pray that your story moves someone with just a few words. The only place I feel at home is when I am by the water. The feeling you get with the perfect wave, a beautiful sunrise and the chill bumps you get as the sun disappears below the horizon at the end of the day. Nothing is more peaceful and you realize you are witnessing amazing things. I would truly enjoy a board of my own to attend an adult surf camp.

I have always lived near the water and when I was a teenager, I had a surfboard. My girls think it’s funny, but during my junior high years I would hang out at the beach and paddle out into the surf. I couldn’t compete with the guys, but I LOVED it! I have longed to get out there again, and get my girls involved. I passed my board onto my little brother, so the gift of surfing lived on. It would be amazing to win this beautiful surfboard and give the gift of surfing to my children too.
