Thanks for the great story about Sue Schmidt. She's a living example of what I have been trying to get adults to believe for a long time - focusing on possibilities rather than disabilities can transform lives. When we reject ageism - the negative story written for us as we age - and write our own stories the possibilities are endless. I also believe if we took this philosophy another step forward senior housing would be built next to elementary schools, humane societies, food banks, etc; anyplace that would allow individuals to contribute time and energy to the many underfunded and understaffed community initiatives. Even frail adults are a wealth of experience and possibility when given the opportunity to be of value, contribute, and continue to expand their horizons.

How I LOVE to hear about women like Sue! Proofs that live never stops as long as you don't. I have a group of women that meet every week to walk and train for our 2x year half marathons -- we range in age from 47 - an almost 70 year old that did her first full marathon in Dublin to celebrate her 60th birthday -- and she's planning something big for her 70th in June. As they say "You Go Girl!"
