Thankful for the ones who came before…
THANKFUL for the ones who had to fight with brass knuckles while wearing power suits, panty hose and pumps. THANKFUL for the ones who never played on a field or a court but somehow knew that it was important nonetheless. THANKFUL for the ones who may now seem humorless, but only because their cause was so dead serious. THANKFUL for the ones who by guile and by aggression got a seat at the table. THANKFUL for the ones who could see the ceiling beyond the glass. THANKFUL for the opportunities built by the resolve of these women. THANKFUL to be an American woman in the 21st century-opportunity awaits. THANKFUL for a little girl and a little boy who do not know that it was every any other way.

If I Leap, Will That Net Really Appear?
Easy to say when I’m standing firmly on the ground. More difficult when I am on the edge, facing an abyss. But what I’ve found over the years, is that if I keep making those leaps, I’ll either reach my goal, the net will appear or I’ll get in some good practice falling. All are good outcomes. Each makes it easier for me to take the next leap, though I must admit that making my goals is way more fun than nursing my bruises.

Commit to fitness this year
Commit to stronger legs that mean a more confident stride. Commit to stronger arms that will bring more strength to our daily work and play. Commit to stronger lungs, lungs that will get to the finish line, to the top of the mountain, to the bottom of the run. Commit to your core, it’ll fuel the confidence in your soul. Commit to sports, commit to fitness and above all commit to fun.

Unsung Heroes
Unsung heroes. Yes, there are the obvious heroes: the Dream Team—male and female, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt. But there are also the stories of a quieter, more genuine kind of inspiration. Some of my favorite moments didn’t necessarily involve marquee-athletes winning gold medals, but rather the great, unsung heroes who showed both strength and grace during adversity. (more…)
