Trust-in-yourself-abilty. Through the span of my 60 trips around the sun, I’ve gathered experiences, but never becoming an expert in anything besides trying new things. After retiring from the challenges of a career as a USAF Security Forces Officer/Commander, I’ve become a Falconer, a General Contractor for my own home’s remodel and the newest challenge is restoring a vintage 1963 RV trailer from the frame up. What’s next? Who knows, but I’m sure it will be something that I’ve never tried or considered before and it will be another adventure to add to my story of trials, tribulations and successes. One of my disappointments in life was way back in the ‘70s when I wasn’t allowed in any of the shop classes offered at my high school because I was female. I’m glad that’s not an issue anymore and I’m glad that I just went around barriers like that and followed my dreams like so many other ladies of my generation instead of fitting into the mold others tried to stuff us into.

Packability. I am small but able to haul a lot of climbing & hiking gear for my size and for long periods of time. Love being outside and wish I had more time to spend doing the things I enjoy, work gets in the way!
But it could be momability too as i am a mother of four (older at this point) kids and one granddaughter! Love my kids and granddaughter, they are the world to me.

LAUGHability. Both laughing about life and okay with being the brunt of jokes. As I prepare to have another rotator cuff/shoulder surgery (first for dislocation for aerial silks last year, now for dislocation for skiing, different arms), it’s helped me keep perspective. I help run an organization that teaches parkour to special populations and that also keeps me laughing in a good way.

I would have to say I have stick-to-it-ability. It’s something I’ve learned by living in the Alaska bush for 30 years. It’s a hard and physical life. Check out my video: https://youtu.be/SBdWnKQmR48
And, by the way, I’m 64 years old.

I love your amazing video, Karen. Thank you for posting it! You must be very brave to sustain yourself throughout the winter. Your dogs have the perfect life.

BREATHEability: I’ve battled Asthma all my life. And while this aspect of my life no longer defines me, “Just Breathe” has become my mantra. From my daily life to my personal yoga practice; as a school psychologist with high school kids to my own kids; hiking tall trails and breathing mountain air; and from my fear of running to training for my first half in May. “Just Breathe.”

Commitability. I’m a 49 year old mom of four who owns a health and wellness company that works with woman of all ages and stages in their lives’ to help them commit to a healthy lifestyle for themselves. I want every woman to realize their strength and capability! #advocateforwoman #ownit #choosehealth.

DURability. All my life, I’ve been afraid of everything. Everything. Anxiety is my shadow. But I’m still here, I’m 59 in two weeks. In the last 2 years I’ve done things I was afraid to do in the past: Made good on a promise to fly to Vegas with a friend when she turned 60, who never thought she’d reach 60, because she’s the first in her family to do so(I’m a bad flier, but a loyal friend). Flew ALONE for the first time ever to Atlanta to see my daughter this summer. Jogged/walked/whined a half-marathon coached by my daughter. I’m still here, still afraid, but glad I did those things. The Appalachian Trail (EEK!) awaits..

PODability. Definitely hard won over a year of showing up.
Last December, I started a podcast, Hear Her Sports, about female athletes and women in sports.

I love podcasts! Going to give yours a listen this week. I took a class on using pods in my high school classroom this past summer, and the big thing seems to be not to leave dead air.
