Once upon a time long, long ago at Title Nine our founder (Missy Park) wasn’t too keen on skirts or dresses, so getting them in the catalog was a tough sell. This was before we became enlightened. We thought that a skort (not the old school kind that looked like shorts in the back – ugh!) would be the perfect thing for the gal on the go. You can still look dressed up and a little girly but in a very functional piece of clothing that allows you to climb fences – or heck, even run and do cartwheels if you want.
We began offering skorts that looked stylish instead of dorky (hidden shorts with nifty stash pockets), and using technical materials to achieve the ultimate in form and function. Soon we were working to get every skirt we saw turned into a skort (well not every skirt but close!). Our customers saw the practicality of skorts and started buying them as fast as we could make them… and they still do!
That’s how skorts were born here at Title Nine.

Folks in the office here at Title Nine were convinced if they could get one on me, I would be a convert. Years and months passed. Conspiracies were launched in an effort to have me wear one. Finally our head merchant, Alice, said she had one she knew I would love and would I be willing to simply give it a try? I relented and the rest is history.
The Run Around Skort is simply awesome. Alice gave me two and I have run, bike commuted to work, gone out to dinner, walked around Lake Merritt and even took a photo of me in one for my Mom. It is extremely comfortable, dries super quick, and I feel fashionable wearing it! I still adore pants but I am happy to now have to change my middle name. “

I, too, am a convert. After seeing a co-worker in her mid-40’s wearing the old type of skorts (shorts in the back) all summer long, I doubted I would ever look at one. They were too short and just too “young” looking for her. Recently, I started doing craft shows outdoors to sell my jewelry. At some of the summer shows, I wanted to be dressed nicer than shorts, but didn’t want to do a dress or regular skirt b/c of all of the bending, lifting and carrying during setup and break down. Along comes the Horny Toad skort! I LOVE this thing! I wear it to most of my outdoor shows b/c it is so comfy, airy and stylish. My only “problem” is that I forget others don’t know I have shorts under there and will sit with my legs propped up or bend waaaaaay over. It’s also great for walking the dogs and doing errands. I’ll be checking the catalogs for more…….

I own three pair of the “No Brainer” skorts and obviously love them. I walked part of the Le Puy Camino de Santiago in France last year and took along one pair. The no brainer scort doesn’t wrinkle, you wash them out at night and they are dry the next day and you can layer tights under them in cooler weather. It was a perfect piece for hiking, dining, and dancing! Now, I can we make them in more exciting colors than tan and brown?
I am reading all of the comments, and I think that I will have to buy a skort. I had a similar situation to Julia’s– although I did not have a dog that chewed holes in my undies! At school we had to wear shorts under our skirts on the days that we had gym class. This made for a very hot gym class, especially late in the Spring. I remember thinking how “unfair” it was that the boys could just wear their pants and the girls were saddled with two layers of clothing. None of the other girls seemed to mind, but I can still hear our gym teacher, Mr. Gregory, encouraging me to finish the 500 yard “dash.” (And I am thinking…”This is no ‘dash,’ this is torture! If you just let me wear a pair of shorts, I wouldn’t be so hot and sweaty!” ) I remember getting really overheated and very red in the face. I wish we had skorts then.
I bought my first skort from you to go on my first whitewater river trip (I row a 16′ raft) since I had my son. I thought it would be a great way to keep my legs covered in the sun, not ride up like some of the river shorts do and cover some of the still hard to melt baby fat. It was great, it also made feel pretty,feminine and sassy – nice to feel as a 40 something mom! It worked great on the river too. I wear skorts all the time now in the summer – great for going out to lunch with the girls, a quick game of soccer, fishing toys from hard to get places – without worrying about playing peek a boo. We’re going on our a family sailing trip next week to escape the snow and I bought two more from you to get me thru our vaca! Thanks for your great products!
I run marathons in my skort–have for the past three years–the same skort for hundreds of training miles and seven marathons! It can hold as many gels and shot blocks as I need, plus keys and other stuff. Other women runners always say–hey–I like your skort. They are all amazed by the load it holds. But it is starting to get ragged. Just got your new running skort in the mail–love it and the zippered pocket–in time to do some trial runs before the Mpls. Marathon. I’ll be sure to tell any who ask it’s a Title 9. Thanks for the great quality and function.Now let’s go qualify for Boston 2010!
